"There are two things in life in which you are never truly prepared: Twins."
Sorry I've been MIA for a while. I have been adjusting to a stay at home mom of twins. I am trying to find my new normal and it is not an easy task but we are getting the hang of it. The girls are doing wonderful! As for myself, well, it is an on going task to "get back to normal." I think for the longest time I was trying to get my normal routine back and just inserting the twins into my daily activities and it just wasn't working out. I now realize that I just need to create a new normal for all of us while still having some "me time." I have seen a lot of family over the past few weeks and everyone has been asking "how do you do it?" I just laugh because I don't know anything else. I think it was a blessing that I had twins first because I truly don't know any thing different. So I just do what I know. I make a lot of stuff up along thew way. But I figure that at the end of the day, as long as the Twins are alive, I did my job. hahah
I have also been getting the same comment from random strangers: "Twins! two for the price of one." I sometimes want to smack them I am thinking : "Um no, I don't get any discounts for 2 times the formula, I did not get a buy one get one free on car seats, diapers, clothing's, cribs, bouncers, ect. sooo no it is not 2 for the price of 1 peeps!!" Plus every time I had an ultrasound I got charged twice because of two babies. Doesn't matter that it is ONE pregnancy you get charged for two babies. It became pretty expensive for all my hundreds of ultrasounds. But I know I am super blessed with the twins and I have gladly accepted the cost of the babes.
Anywho….
I have also been hibernating the past few months trying to get my body back. Along with this new normal is realizing that my body is totally new to me. Trying to fit back into my normal clothing's and shoes have been a challenge. Finding time to work out has been a interesting but I belong to a really nice YMCA that has free child care for 1 hour and that has become my favorite part of the day. The Y has free wifi so I find myself working out and catching up on my shows and paying our bills during that time. I have been coming to terms with my stretch marks. My OB gave it tome straight. He was totally honest with me and said "it is your badge of honor they will never truly fully go away." So I have accepted it. I also have some excess skin. It kinda hangs over my c-section scar. But it is very slowly toning up. I am not sure if will totally go away either. When my body was stretched the way that it was, I am not surprise by the excess skin. I have a hard time fitting into my old low rise jeans because of it and so I have found new pants that I am in love with a that are comfortable and cute (I will share my list of postpartum things that I have come to love). I still have about 8 lbs to get rid of but not killing myself to get it off. So there you have it my new normal…. my new body… and a new year!

Here I was 1 week postpartum i look like a person who is about 33 weeks with 1 baby.
The pregger photo was taken at a BBQ for matt's work. I was 34 weeks and some change in that picture. The other photo is one I took last nigh after a shower. Isn't it crazy?! I have not done anything drastic either. I have just been doing the elliptical at the gym and some free weights and still taking it very easy on core stuff. The transformation is insane and I have decided that the human body is crazy! I WAS HUGE!!!!! Now do you see why I have awful marks?! EEK
Ok so here are some the items that I have found to be useful during that awkward transition from super pregger to getting your normal back

These are pull on jeans! And they are not frumpy pull on jeans. They don't have a zipper or a button. I loved these because they hit above my scar. I hated anythinging near my scar. I found them at Von Maur and they have free hemming so they fit perfect! I think Nordstroms sells them as well.

I know there is not magic cure for the stretch marks. However I have tried other products and this stuff works the best. It makes my tummy really soft feeling and has really help reduce my redness. I also put it on my c-section scar and I have notice a difference. I like that it rubs in really nice and it is not super oily.

Dandelion Root Tea. It is a wonder tea. It helps cleanse the body. It helps GI problems. Can i just say it "cleans you out." It helps with bloating too. I did not drink it while I was breastfeeding. It is recommend not to.
