Oh my gosh... So I would have never pegged myself as "that mom" who would go all out and have a "pinteresty" first birthday party. Well, that is what I did... I couldn't help it. We were so freaking happy to have made it to the first year! All of the sudden I became crazed with the idea of needing to throw a big birthday party (I mean turning 1 is a big deal! I also just wanted a reason to have a party and serve adult beverages). So next came the planning. I didn't want to do something really girly, and I just love fall. Not sure how it happend but an apple theme came to be. "THE APPLES OF OUR EYES ARE TURING 1" cute... cute...cute... I know. We did the first birthday pictures at a fruit farm about 40 mins away from our house. We also did a cake smash session a few days before and the pictures turned out awesome. I wanted to share!
I made the "Happy Birthday" banner. It is just made out of pre-cut card board that you can find at Hobby Lobby and twine. I traced the letters onto different types of scrap book paper and used double sided tape and that was all there was to it! I ordered diaper covers from Etsy. Of course no cake smash would be complete with out some tears.
So it was a hot mess at the end of the shoot... but super fun as well!
Then we headed out the farm for some apple picking. We invited some of the girls friends to come along and my nephew and and sister- in- law joined the crazy fun to get some pictures of all the kids together!

I mean the back drop looks fake, but it is real I assure you. Of course I had to jump in to get a mom/daughter pic.
Huge shout out to our photographer Pieces of You Photography in Columbus! They turned out so adorable.
We decided to have a lunch picnic party at the house. We served apple cider, chicken sliders, apple sauce, cake and cookies. I think it turned out really well! Check it out!
My sister in law did the invites and the banner for the cake and smash cake signs. Visit her Etsy website: https://www.etsy.com/shop/oliveINK?ref=ss_profile

I Love the Happy First Birthday banner. I made the ONE sign using ribbon and twine and painted some cardboard letters and hot glued it to the banner. I think it turned out cute (and it was cheap to make! yay)
We ordered cookies from a local lady and they turned out so great. I thought it would be fun to show the "month by month" pictures of the girls. I used an app called Print Studio. They use your iphone or instagram photos and make tiny picture prints. I ordered 2x2 and hung them on extra twine with clothing pins I found at Micheals. |
In the end the party was great... totally exhausting.... but worth it. Next year we are just doing the play gym at a McDonalds! Until next time!
