"Lord give me coffee to change the things I can change, and wine to accept the things I can't"
Well we did it! We have made it a whole month. Pretty much the month has consisted of changing, feedings, burping and cuddling.
This twin stuff is absolutely exhausting. I knew having newborns is super tiring and I was a NICU nurse for goodness sake but I totally underestimated the work that the twins have become. It is a full time job keeping up with them. Matt and I joke that it is like the game "Whack a Mole." The second we get one baby settled the other one starts up. The first few weeks home we had my mom staying with us which was so great. It was so helpful to have another set of hands to helps us out to do laundry and get food on the table and to help do some feedings. The first two weeks home the babes woke up about every two and a half hours which is just so tiring. Plus I was recovering from my c-section and Matt had to go back to work so it has been a challenge but some how you just do it. It is a good thing these babies are so freaking cute so I can't get too mad about it.

The other thing that has been difficult is waiting for is your body to return to normal. Sometimes I forget that I carried nearly 12lbs of baby. My stomach stretched so far!!! For some reason thought I should try on some of my pre-pregnancy clothing at 2 weeks postpartum… of course nothing fit and then I just cried! . So just some advice, give yourself at least a month before you try and squeeze into those clothing. There should be special clothing for the "4th Trimester" where you don't fit into your normal stuff but your maternity clothing are too big!
So I am down 38lbs from my 50 I gained. I have 12 more lbs to get off until I am at my pre-pregnancy weight! I am pretty happy about this! I have been so busy with the twins that I am sure the rest of it will come off pretty quick!
I found this last month that you go through this weird transition when you come home from the hospital. I found myself looking at them and thinking "now what?" You realize your life really has changed you are trying to figure out what to do next. last week I started figuring it out. It is so much trial and error with them but you make it work.
So after being a mom of twins for a month. I have decided that there are certain things that are must haves to survive the first 4 weeks home. I though I would share since there are so many of my friends who are about to have babies! So here is my must have list!!

The Fisher-Price Rock'n Play! Get one of these!!!!! There is something about this little rocker that makes kids sleep! It is slightly inclined and it kinda cradles the babies and they love it! If you have hardwood floors it rocks itself when the babies move!

The Avent bottles! You need the ones with the classic nipple. I had both the classic nipples and the natural nipples and found that my girls do better with the classic. They are designed to not let too much air in as the baby sucks which helps with gas and fussy babies!! They are great!

This the best anti-diaper rash balm I have used (Aquaphor also works great) but this stuff is amazing. It is by the Honest Company and they use all natural products. I ordered a sample set of the soaps and this came with it and I love!
The babies have no redness at all and my kids poop all the time! https://www.honest.com/bath-and-body/healing-balm

Ok this is called the Belly Bandit. I did a ton of research on postpartum support girdles and this is the one I went with. I went with this one because I am super short waisted and this is great for people with shorter torsos. I also had a c-section and this helped support my belly and my back after my surgery. It gave me the support I needed. It helped my stomach go down and get back to normal and it really supported my lower back which was killing be after I had the babies. I first ordered a medium and then after 2 weeks had to move to a size small and I still wear it. It is more bulky than some of the other on the market but I just wear it when I am at home and under baggy clothing! Totally recommend it!

Avent BPA Free Soothie Pacifier. We had a lots of different time of pacifiers. You are gonna need a good mute button for you babies and my girls have taken to these better than any of the other ones. I know some people don't want to use pacifiers, but when it helps soothe a screaming baby I am all for it. I would rather have them suck on a pacifier than fingers because I can take away a pacifier down the road. I can't take away a thumb.
The Bestever Baby Mat! We got this as a gift an we love him. Add this to your registry. This thing is so soft I want to sleep with it! So soft and great to lay the kids on after a bath or just have them hang on him on the floor for tummy time. They come in all different animals. We happen to have the giraffe and they love him!1http://www.amazon.com/Bestever-02597-Baby-Mat-Lion/dp/B004P42PK0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382997693&sr=8-1&keywords=soft+lion+play+mat

Marcpac Dohm-Sound Machine. My favorite thing!! It is a white noise sound machine and I love it! The babies like it too. We got this for a shower gift from a friend who has one and she swears by it. It helps you sleep. We have it in our room next to the babies and we all sleep well!
